The transition to fall carries a fullness and welcoming, yielding cool, crisp air, the crunch of leaves beneath our feet, and the setting of casual comforts amongst friends and loved ones. This is a season filled with connection ... returning back to basics with our fireplaces burning and our homes filled with love and warmth. We feel these sentimental moments as the sun sets earlier and the moon shines longer, as we begin to seek light in darker spaces. Essentially the neutrals of this season, the colors that surround us - cool navies, forest greens, muddy taupes, warm camels, and striking blacks - provide a stunning contrast to light-filled spaces, acting as neutrals themselves when reflected in the home. When these colors touch the walls, trim and ceiling... enveloping a space, highlights the homeowners’ found and sacred treasures, shedding new light and visual interest by grounding the sentimental finds in a backdrop of focus and drama. As a lover of light-filled rooms and white walls, I intuitively seek out a lighter palette in my work styling and photographing interiors, however as I discover evidence of these darker shades, I admire how these colors showcase beloved belongings. In a similar sentimentality to how we feel as the warmer months come to an end, deep tone walls and dark, saturated hues provide an almost magical entrance, setting the tone for a new season. Sending you all light and love this week. Xx

Catch my photos on the CBS premiere of Pickler and Ben TODAY with Leanne Ford!
So often, spur-of-the-moment invitations or projects prove to be the most rewarding experiences. A few weeks ago, I said YES to a last-minute project and shoot, and I can safely say I'm so thrilled and thankful that I did.
Today marks the premiere of Pickler and Ben, the brand new Nashville-based national talk show starring Kellie Pickler and Ben Aaron (produced by Faith Hill and directed by Joe Terry and his team of The Oprah Winfrey Show fame, no less!) I'm so excited to share that my photography is featured in a heartwarming segment on the premiere, which also features Dolly Parton and Little Big Town's Kimberly Schlapman.
In this inaugural episode, the Pickler and Ben team sought out Darius Garland, the top high school basketball recruit in the state, to build up his family living room and give them a space to meet their needs. My dear friend and New Southern designer Leanne Ford totally transformed his family's living space for hosting and entertaining, as their son is often visited by college basketball coaches from around the nation (think Vanderbilt, UCLA, Duke). It's such a sweet story and a true testament to the character and talent of southern creatives. We strive to direct our creativity for good, see the best in all people, and believe small acts of kindness can truly effect change. Not to mention, Leanne's bright, crisp, subtly-funky aesthetic represents everything I'm loving in design these days.
I can't wait to see the inspiring stories Kellie and Ben will tell through their new show. This is only the beginning! Check your local listings to tune in to Pickler and Ben! Here in Nashville, it airs each morning on CBS Xx

The Germantown Inn Featured in Condé Nast Traveler & The New York Times!
This month, my shoot of Nashville's colorful Germantown Inn was featured in the print edition of Condé Nast Traveler and The New York Times! The boutique hotel is in the heart of up and coming Germantown (one of my absolute favorite neighborhoods and home to my all time favorite restaurant, City House) and is designed with punchy color and comfort in mind. One of the trademark details of the space is the eclectic artwork featuring Founding Fathers in colorful hairdos. It's fun to use those unique design elements to create a focal point for the shot. It's also great to work with amazing local businesses and share the Nashville love!
See more from my day at the Germantown Inn below, and be sure to pick up a copy of Condé Nast Traveler and The New York Times on stands now! Xx
