The transition to fall carries a fullness and welcoming, yielding cool, crisp air, the crunch of leaves beneath our feet, and the setting of casual comforts amongst friends and loved ones. This is a season filled with connection ... returning back to basics with our fireplaces burning and our homes filled with love and warmth. We feel these sentimental moments as the sun sets earlier and the moon shines longer, as we begin to seek light in darker spaces. Essentially the neutrals of this season, the colors that surround us - cool navies, forest greens, muddy taupes, warm camels, and striking blacks - provide a stunning contrast to light-filled spaces, acting as neutrals themselves when reflected in the home. When these colors touch the walls, trim and ceiling... enveloping a space, highlights the homeowners’ found and sacred treasures, shedding new light and visual interest by grounding the sentimental finds in a backdrop of focus and drama. As a lover of light-filled rooms and white walls, I intuitively seek out a lighter palette in my work styling and photographing interiors, however as I discover evidence of these darker shades, I admire how these colors showcase beloved belongings. In a similar sentimentality to how we feel as the warmer months come to an end, deep tone walls and dark, saturated hues provide an almost magical entrance, setting the tone for a new season. Sending you all light and love this week. Xx

Catch Me on the Best of the West Panel on July 31!
That's right! In partnership with REstyleSOURCE, I'm heading to Las Vegas to sit on the Best of the West Panel at market on July 31st. I'll join Nicole Davis, Brady Tolbert, Jeni Maus, and Caitlin Creer on a panel moderated by the guys of Consort Design to discuss rising trends and the enduring decor traditions that make Western design really stand out. So many of the native design trends of the American West are ones that I implement in my own home. Think: light-filled, breezy spaces and funky antiques with lots of character. What's more, the inspiration behind tasteful Western aesthetic comes from a similar place as The New Southern. It's comfortable, not stuffy. Stylish, but definitely not forced. And it's such an amazing example of how the Southern look and lifestyle translates across the country! I'm excited to share my unique point of view as a photographer (perhaps the first on this panel ever!), as there are tons of styling tricks you learn as you're looking at a space behind a lens. PLUS, it's my first time at market, so I look forward to seeing what all the hustle and bustle is really like. See you shopping!!! Xx

Black, White, and Style All Over with Elle Decor
It’s always a treat to work with a dear friend, Memphis-based designer Sean Anderson. It’s even better when it’s his own home! Although you may not guess it from the photos, the family moved into the home as is. No renovations whatsoever! Sean decided to repaint the entire space—in matte black with white floors, no less—and plans to remodel the home in the coming years. It’s remarkable what a fresh coat of paint, a few green and white blooms, and an eye for design can do. Thank you to the incredible team at Elle Decor, it is always such a pleasure to work with this talented group!!!
