It’s September, and that means the book is finally here!! The New Southern Style officially hits shelves September 22, a date that feels unbelievably soon after being in the works for years. So many of you have been with me since day one and know what a labor of love it has been. It was something I was so scared to do, but now, I sit here with a physical copy in my hands and I can't wait for you to hold it in yours!! This book is for you, after all. As I write in the first few pages, I have dedicated it to you “as a thank-you for the daily love, energy, and warmth you send my way. These pages are a reminder that we are all stronger together, respecting our differences, honoring our curiosities, expanding into our truth, and reclaiming the creative light that lives within us. These pages are yours and so is a piece of my heart.” 

It is only right that I celebrate this with you. Since, there will be no physical book tour, I have soul-sparking, can’t-miss (virtual) celebrations lined up all month long for YOU. (What’s a book about big life pivots without one of its own?)

What an interesting time to be birthing a book. I have experienced every emotion possible and I am ending with appreciation, gratitude and surrender. This project started out as a belief, quickly grew into a fire in my belly, and ultimately manifested into something so much larger than myself.  Our society is more divided than ever and I just launched a project that celebrates coming together with community, creativity and curiosity. I am deeply grateful for those who have supported me through this process along with those who participated within this book. 

As an artist, I know when a project is complete when it no longer feels like my own and has taken on new life. You have all been my angels and you are responsible for giving this book wings to soar the sky. May it touch the hearts of communities and younger generations to come. I love you all deeply, and thank you for being on this journey with me. This book has changed my life and was photographed and written with all your hearts in my mind.

The American South is a place steeped in conviction and tradition. We think of sweet tea, thick drawls, and even thicker summer air. It is also a place with a fraught history, complicated socials norms, and dated perspectives. Yet among the makers and artists of the South, there is a powerful movement afoot.
